The Grand River Hospital (GRH), the Region of Waterloo’s largest community hospital with 630 beds, is located in Kitchener. Grand River Hospital operates from two primary sites, as well as from a number of nearby buildings.
The Freeport Site at 3570 King Street East, Kitchener is GRH’s location for complex continuing care, rehabilitation programs, several outpatient clinics, satellite renal services, specialized mental health, and more.
GRH’s Kitchener-Waterloo Site at 835 King Street West, Kitchener provides cancer care, critical care, emergency services, laboratory medicine, maternal-child programs, medical imaging, medical programs, inpatient mental health, paediatric care, pharmacy services, renal services and surgery.
At 850 King Street West across the street from the KW Site, a number of outpatient mental health services are offered.
St. Mary’s General Hospital is also located in Kitchener. It is a 191 bed adult acute care hospital with Centers of Excellence in Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery, Thoracic Surgery and Respirology, Minimally Invasive Surgery, Ophthalmology and Urology.
The University of Waterloo’s Downtown Health Sciences Campus also includes the Centre for Family Medicine and an integrated primary care clinic, where new doctors train and where a family health team includes physicians, nurse practitioners and other health professionals.
