When searching for a new neighbourhood I look for trees and green space, walkability for the basics – mom and pop shops, grocery stores and pharmacies and access to transit. While I drive a plug in hybrid and certainly must commute to visit and support family and friends, I work from home – and want to love where I live.

The first woman in the history of Canadian TV to host her own sports show in primetime, since 2011 she’s been working in both TV and radio covering news and current affairs. JOHNNY NOVAK – Standup Comedian/Radio Host, Victoria BC
To be honest I go with whatever’s cheapest but that’s not really an option with the current housing market, especially here in Victoria, BC. All the neighbourhoods here are costly but that also in a twisted way gives you more options because they’re all about the same expensive price. I chose James Bay because of it’s walkability. I don’t need my car to get to work, the grocery store or all the entertainment venues and green spaces this city has to offer.

When it came to choosing a neighbourhood to live in, location was a big factor. We wanted to remain close to our families, with access to major highways and proximity to shops, gas stations and attractions. While we do live in a large suburb of Toronto, we are fortunate to have a backyard for our kids and lots of nearby green spaces and parks to explore. Plus, whether we need to travel or commute to the city, or want to escape to the beach or country, we can do so fairly easily.

When choosing a neighbourhood, I like somewhere close to the subway, good restaurants and that has a community. I used to live at Cityplace and it was so busy, loud, and non-stop. A rat race! When we moved to Junction Triangle, I loved the slower pace, small local shops, and places to eat, plus we’re close to Roncesville! The neighbourhood here has grown so much since moving almost a decade ago. We’re close to breweries, great places to eat on Dundas West, and lots of little cafes.
